Aileen McLeod

Director

Aileen (she/her) leads our WEAll Scotland team as we continue to support Scotland's transition to a wellbeing economy at this critical time. 

 

She brings to WEAll Scotland a wealth of experience, expertise and skills having served in the Scottish Government as Minister for Environment, Climate Change, and Land Reform; in the Scottish Parliament as MSP for South Scotland and member of the Rural Affairs, Climate Change and Environment, Health and Sport, Infrastructure and Capital Investment, European Relations Committees, and as a Director on Scotland's Futures Forum; and in the European Parliament as an MEP representing Scotland and member of the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, and Constitutional Affairs Committees. 

In 2017, Aileen met Dr Katherine Trebeck, which led her to chairing the task force in 2017/18 that established the Wellbeing Economy Governments (WEGo) partnership with Scotland, Iceland and New Zealand, and later joined by Wales, Finland and Canada.

Aileen has spent many years in public policy advocating for, and advising on, the Wellbeing Economy agenda in Scotland, at the EU and international level.  senior advisory roles with the Club of Rome in support of its transformational economics work and, more recently, with the European Policy Centre think tank in Brussels and its Wellbeing Economy Policy Lab project. 

 

She participates in a number of European and international academic and policy networks researching and advocating the implementation of practical measures designed to advance the Wellbeing Economy agenda. Aileen is a member of the Global Council of the Wellbeing Economy Alliance (WEAll) enabling her to develop close links to WEAll Global and provide policy advice and support to the wider Global team.
